The Placeholder feature in Propdocs allows you to structure information that needs to be completed in an agreement. A list of Placeholders is available by everyone that can access a document to ensure that all critical information is inputted into the document. This guide will walk you through the process of creating and managing placeholders within your templates.
Creating a Placeholder in a Template
You can create placeholders in your template in two different ways:

Using the 'Insert' Menu:
- Go to the toolbar at the top of the template editor.
- Click on the 'Insert' menu.
- Select the Placeholder icon,

Using the 'Insert Placeholder' hover button:
- Highlight the words/place in the document where you want to insert a placeholder.
- Click the hovering 'Insert Placeholder' button that appears.
Editing/Deleting a Placeholder
You can edit a placeholder at any time by:
- Clicking on the placeholder within the document.
- Selecting the placeholder item from the sidebar.
In the placeholder edit popup, you can update the placeholder's details, mark it as required, and/or delete it if no longer needed by clicking the red delete/trash icon.
Setting a Placeholder as Required
A placeholder can also be marked as required. This ensures that the placeholder is filled out before the document is be sent for review. Click on the placeholder in the document or the placeholder item in the sidebar. In the placeholder edit popup, check the 'Required' box.
When you create a document from a template containing required placeholders and attempt to send it for review internally or to your counterparty, Propdocs will check if all required placeholders are completed. If any required placeholders are not filled out, a message will prompt you to complete them.
